Sales Engineer



Wallaroo Labs is working on a huge idea, and this is a phenomenal opportunity for a person who enjoys challenges. We believe in open source and strive to build on these technologies. Our distributed team is ten people and growing. We had have generated a lot of interest in our product and vision and raised a large seed round with several well-known VCs.

Faster data, more data sources, and business requirements are driving increasingly sophisticated algorithms and putting more and more demands on data applications. Wallaroo Labs solves these problems with Wallaroo, a data engine for building highly elastic big data applications.

We are looking for a Sales Engineer to work closely with our enterprise prospects and customers to educate, empower, and ensure their success with using Wallaroo.  You will independently as well as support and work with our CEO on direct sales efforts to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand fundamental customer technical objections and resolve technical blockers.


  • Understand markets, competition and customer/user requirements 
  • Identify market opportunities, build business cases, and help define product vision and strategy for Wallaroo and key verticals.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and demos that explain Wallaroo to prospective customers
  • Determine client requirements and recommend integration strategies, architectures, platforms and application infrastructure required to implement a complete solution successfully 
  • Travel to customers, conferences, and related events as required


  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience serving in the capacity of a technical sales engineer in a cloud computing environment or equivalent experience in a customer-facing role 
  • Experience presenting and delivering technical pitches.
  • Experience with "big-data" frameworks such as Hadoop and Spark a plus
